2008 HOPE staff retreat

Last Thursday the HOPE staff took a day away from the HOPE office and came together in Seto for a staff retreat at Lowell Sheppard's new home to learn about HOPE's philosophy, projects and long-term plans and also to get to know each other better (some of us share a passion for manga, others a passion for underwater hockey, and others a passion for sport shoes).


The staff shared personal stories of how they came to work at HOPE and how they feel their work helps the world's neglected poor. Elise and Lowell began by outlining the projects HOPE is currently working in Myanmar, India, Cambodia, the Phillipines, Sudan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Followed by a presentation on HOPE's long-term vision and strategies.

The evening concluded on a relaxed note as the HOPE staff enjoyed a wonderful BBQ on Lowell's deck.

2008年度ホープ・スタッフ研修会

先週木曜日、ホープのスタッフは一日事務所を離れて、瀬戸市にあるロウェル・シェパード宅にて、ホープの理念・プロジェクト・長期的計画などを学ぶ研修会を行いました。研修会は、スタッフたちがお互いのことについて知るよい機会にもなりました。漫画、水中ホッケー、スニーカーなど、それぞれが自分の趣味を熱く語り合う場面も見られました。

スタッフらは「なぜホープで働くに至ったか？」、「自分の働きがどのように世界の貧困を救うことにつながっていくと考えるか？」といったことについて、それぞれに意見を交換しました。また、エリーズさんとロウェルさんは、現在ホープが行っているミャンマー、インド、カンボジア、フィリピン、スーダン、アフガニスタン、スリランカでの活動の概要を説明しました。その後、ホープの長期的展望や概念についてのプレゼンテーションが行われました。

夕方にはテラスでバーベキューが振る舞われ、リラックスした雰囲気の中で、一日の研修会が締めくくられました。
